Prince William has rejected a prenuptial agreement with his new wife Kate Middleton.
The couple were reportedly advised by royal colleagues to prepare for every eventuality ahead of their historic marriage, but St James's Palace confirmed that no legal compromise had been drawn up by the time they tied the knot on Friday.
The Sunday Telegraph further claims that Patrick Jephson, a former private secretary to Princess Diana, had stressed to William the importance of an agreement in the immediate aftermath of their engagement last November.
Jephson argued to the publication: "There will be a tidal wave of sentimental slush, but you've got to be practical... If they don't get this one right, what's going to happen to the institution in the long run?"

They claimed: "William was advised that some sort of legal agreement might be a good idea. But he loves Kate and trusts her implicitly, and was adamant that no agreement was necessary."
