Dolly Parton 'money doesn't make me happy'

Dolly Parton insists money doesn’t make a person happy.
The singer who was the fourth of twelve siblings, and has previously described her family as “dirt poor” has revealed that she will never forget her family’s humble roots and strives to keep that spirit alive throughout her career, including singing her favorite song, Coat of Many Colors.
“That little girl is still here, that little girl keeps me sane. People say, ‘Don’t you get tired talking about your family? Don’t you get tired about being poor?’ No I don’t. That is my memory, that is what made me who and what I am,” she said.
“Like my favorite song is Coat of Many Colors, which is a true story because it was a coat my mom made. To this day it’s my favorite because it talks about a lot of stuff, the love of family and that you don’t need money to be rich. You can be rich in understanding and love and caring. “
Dolly says that the memories of her early life keep her grounded in an otherwise “crazy world”.
“So I love writing about that and I go home always in my mind, no matter where I am in the world, I anchor myself and I can go back to my Tennessee mountain home and I can be with momma and daddy even though they are passed on now,” she explained.
“I can be with my brothers and sisters when we were little and it is restoring and it helps me. It keeps me sane in this crazy world.”
