Katy Perry 'sues magazine over affair claims'

Katy Perry has begun legal proceedings against an Australian publication for falsely accusing her of cheating on husband Russell Brand.
New Weekly magazine implied that the singer, who married Brand in India last year, has developed a "very close relationship" with her record producer Benny Blanco. 
In the feature, a friend of Perry claimed to see her kissing Blanco when they were recording 'California Gurls' in the studio. She also accused them of spending time alone in Perry's hotel room during the Grammy Awards.
The star's legal claim reads: "By reason of the publication of the article the plaintiff has been gravely injured in her reputation and feelings [and] has suffered distress, embarrassment and humiliation."
A spokesperson from publishing company ACP Magazines told The Daily Telegraph that they have "not been served with any claim" yet.
It was rumoured that the lawsuit would prevent Perry from performing at the Logie Awards on Sunday night as it is hosted by NW's sister publication TV Week, but organisers have insisted that she will still open the event.
