Mark Ruffalo 'Orlando Bloom begged me for movie role'

Mark Ruffalo says Orlando Bloom begged him for his rocker role in new movie Sympathy for the Delicious.

Actor turned director Mark claims Orlando was desperate to star in his movie following a succession of blockbuster roles in the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbeantrilogies.

“Orlando wasn’t my first choice for this movie,” says Mark. “I sat down with him and we talked about it and he said, ‘I’m really broken right now and I need an acting experience. I need something where I can really dig in and change myself.’

“I think that, for people to be great, they need a lot of trust and encouragement and love and that’s what Orlando needed.”

Meanwhile, Mark has lost 15 lbs. as he prepares for his role in new movie The Avengers.

The actor starts shooting next month and is doing his best to look “lean and mean”.

“We have to get the script. We’ve been working on the script, which has been fun. I’ve lost 15 lbs. They don’t want me all ripped up, but they want me to be lean and mean,” Ruffalo said.

“It’s about trying to get the psychology of somebody who knows, at any moment, they could literally tear the roof off of wherever they are and trying to bring something real to that and totally fantastic.”
