Elisha Cuthbert is enjoying her comedic role on new TV show Happy Endings.
The actress who plays Alex in the ABC sitcom previously starred in Fox drama 24 and also appeared in short-lived series The Forgotten.
“I just felt like I was at this sort of place where I had spent a lot of time doing one-hour drama and just wanted something different,” she said.
“When you go into TV there’s always that possibility you could spend the next six years of your life doing this one project [so] it’s got to be something that you’re excited about and you want to come to work every day to do.”
The star admits that striking up a chemistry with her costars was her “biggest concern” when she signed up for the show last year.
“The show is based on the friendship and relationship between these six characters [so] I made sure to get everyone together,” she explained. “We made sure we did things to connect on a level outside of set and read
-throughs and the chaos of putting the pilot together.”
The series also stars Eliza Coupe, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, Damon Wayans Jr. and Casey Wilson.
Elisha recently admitted she had “some anxiety” before starting work on Happy Endings.
“I had some anxiety because most of my work on television had been with ‘24,’ and I was used to that element,” Cuthbert says. “Once I got on the set, I felt like this was a good place for me. I felt comfortable.”
She describes her role as an “honest take on a girl in her late 20s early 30s going through life at that time.”
