Halle Berry has scrapped plans to make her Broadway debut.
The Oscar-winning actress had been due to make her first outing on the stage in New York’s prestigious theater district this September, appearing in the play Mountaintop, but has dropped out due to “custody issues”.
“[Halle will] not be appearing in the role due to child-custody issues,” said a statement from producers.
Halle and boyfriend
Gabriel Aubry ended their relationship last year, and in December the male model filed papers asking to be formally recognized as the father of Nahla and requesting shared custody of the child.
It is not known who will replace Halle in Mountain-top, which was written by American playwright Katori Hall.Samuel L. Jackson is still confirmed to play the role of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the production.
Meanwhile, Halle says she’s “not the marrying kind”.
The 44-year-old actress who was previously wed to US baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet thinks she has made a lot of “wrong choices” in her personal life and believes she would have been much happier if she had never walked down the aisle.
“I wish I had known then that I was not the marrying kind. It would have saved me a lot of time, heartache and grief over the years,” she said.
“I made all the wrong choices when it came to love. I have been an idiot.”
